Reviews: Heaven Hill Series By Laramie Briscoe

Available Tomorrow!!

The third book Losing Control, is about Bianca and Jagger. Their story was more of a younger affair, compared to the intensity of the previous two books. Even though this was not as good for me as the others, it was still very enjoyable and kept the intense suspense and intrigue from Meant to Be and Out of Darkness. Jagger and Bianca carry more innocence with them, compared to the stories of Tyler and Liam. I missed that dark ruggedness that you experience before from the other members. I did like that you hear and see interaction from the rival gang and their leader Dino. It makes the story balance out from not overwhelming romance, and gives it the flare of drama. I really enjoy Laramie's writing, her ability of keeping you in suspense with the situations they are dealing with and getting emotionally involved with the backgrounds of her characters, just makes it fantastic writing. I am looking forward to the next book in 2014, hopefully Layne will bring back some of that bad boy attitude. Enjoy!

Review: Seven Years By Dannika Dark

Amy's Review:
Dannika has yet again brought her imagination to life with her new paranormal romance Seven Years.  In this story, Dannika has given the shape shifters the forefront. Lexi, who is admirable as a female lead, carries the burden of being the glue for her mother and sister. After losing her brother in a tragic accident, Lexi is strolling through life but not really living, not since Austin left. Austin, Lexi’s brother’s best friend/close as brothers, left town abruptly right after Wes’s death leaving Lexi and her family wondering why. Seven years later, Austin returns and turns Lexi’s normal life upside down. Fighting old feelings for Austin, Lexi vows not to love Austin, even when it seems Austin is hell bent on possessing her. When Lexi learns that her brother’s death was not an accident, and Austin has been keeping secrets not only about himself but about Lexi as well, she must trust in herself or trust Austin to protect her.  Filled with action, suspense, romance and hot alpha males, Dannika will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire ride. Keeping true to her urban paranormal romance writings, Seven Years is not one to miss. Enjoy!

Review: Never Let Go By Scarlett Edwards

The New Adult Romance genre is taking over, especially with college stories. Never Let Go is just like many of the others out there, love triangle, bad boy, good girl, good guy, friend betrayal, cheating, ect.. Scarlett is a good writer and I enjoyed her story, much more knowing that it was based on some true events. She kept me interested in the story, cringing at some parts, laughing and wanting to slap somebody. I think that Scarlett has a great writing future ahead of her and I'm curious where her characters will go in the next book. Enjoy.

Review: Torch ( A Take It Off Novel) By Cambria Hebert

This book is fantastic. I am so impressed by the writing and storyline of Torch. Romance/Suspense is one of my favorite genre and this book has it all. The chemistry between Katie and Holt is off the charts and the action/suspense is gripping. Cambria does a great job and keeping you question who or what is going on and you will never know until the end. Katie, the main character, is such a strong lead considering she is all alone. Holt, very mature for his age, is the male we all dream of meeting. Both characters are so stubborn and determined to keep the other safe, causing fireworks between them. It's a great book you won't be able to put down. Enjoy!

Review Plus Giveaway: Unconventional Fling By Allyson Lindt

Unconventional Fling

Just when you’re not looking, something sits down right in front of you and makes you think..”why not”. I think what I liked most about this story was it is so believable. Both characters share the loneliness of a job that keeps them traveling. When they meet the chemistry is undeniable. Trying to battle the war going on in their heads of what is right and what is wrong, doubts and insecurities with having a long distance relationship. From start to finish their journey is entertaining and sweet. This story is not long, but not short, and just enough to sit and read in a day. Enjoy!

Review: Bend Bite Shift Trilogy By Olivia Hardin

Title: Bend-Bite-Shift Series
Author: Olivia Hardin
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Bitten Shame: Bend Bite Shift #2

I liked Jill's story. You get to see how she became a vampire and see the growth of a relationship with Doc. I wasn't a fan of the constant flash backs. It was like trying to follow two separate stories. It's a great middle book and keeps all the characters together and we get to see the Faery realm and meet Devan's father. Roon comes back who is slowing growing on me and I look forward to seeing what happens in the future for him.

Witch Way Bends: Bend Bite Shift #1

I was very skeptical in the beginning of this story because it feels like you start in the middle of a story.  It works though because you learn a bit more towards the end that pulls it all together.  Devan, who believes she is an ordinary woman, is working with a group of men set out to destroy a group called the Org.  Devan has personal ties to this group because her father is one of them. Kent, Nicky, and Langston all have gifts that help support their cause.  Devan soon learns that she is no ordinary human, she is a special witch part fae, one that has never been heard of before.  Devan is the key to bring the human world and the fae world together.  Devin will need help from her friends to get answers on who she really is but also to take down a master vamp that wants her blood.  This story has witches, vampires, and the fae in it.  So if you like the paranormal, you get a bunch.  This story is unique and I haven't read anything like it before which is refreshing.

Review: Declaration By Rachael Wade

Amy's Review

I am so happy Carter got his own story. His story is one of soul-searching, finding oneself rather than the previous books of drama and heartache. Carter, as we all know from the stories before Declaration, has always loved Kate, and decides his heart needs a break. Thinking he might find it in Florida, Carter ends up meeting Jackson, Emma, and Whitney. From there, Cater feels that he just might move on from Kate with Whitney. Both have their history with bad relationships and heartache, these two are just so afraid to speak that lines get crossed and things get miss-read. No relationship is ever easy, especially in the beginning, and when other people are trying to sabotage you, a disaster waiting to happen. I liked the final journey and the last piece of the puzzle for this group, especially the end with a sneak peek at many years down the road. Rachael will make her fans very happy with this one. Enjoy.

Review: Something Great By M. Clarke

Amy's Review

Very cute and heartwarming story. This is one of your books that you pull out on a rainy day to read. It has a story line to it that could melt your heart. Filled with romance and drama, the lightest read that doesn't require you to read into it.
Jeanella is our female lead who had her heart broken by a cheating boyfriend in college with her roommate none the less. Total betrayal on their part. Years down the road, she has dated but never become intimate with another man since. I mean who wouldn't be hesitant to throw your heart back out there. When Jeanella gets a new job at a fashion magazine company, Max gets one glimpse of her and its done. The rest of the story is Max and Jeanella's courtship or the obstacles they must pass to see if they can be a couple. Ex's and past aggressions might be their downfall, but the buildup to the end is worth it. Enjoy.

Review: Forget Me Not by Sarah Daltry

Forget Me Not (Flowering, #1)

 18+ New Adult romance

Wow, ok...girl was crazy. I mean like seriously crazy. When I first started reading I became skeptical because Lily was that character that would normally piss me off and not want to read. Pushing through the beginning until she broke out with Jack, then shit got hot. Reading about someone who seriously over-reacts and become rash to do stupid things makes you feel a little bit better about yourself. Hey, maybe I'm not as crazy as I thought. But when you come into Jack's story, then it gets emotional and sentimental. I have to say, we all had our firsts, and in some cases they are hard to say goodbye to. This story has the ability to pull you in so fast, that by the end you don't want it to be over. I am so excited to read this in Jack's POV. If you like lots of sex, and lots of crazy then you will definitely like this.

Review: Gentling The Cowboy By Ruth Cardello

smaller copy

Fun read. I don't know how much more you could have packed into this book, it was funny, sad, romantic, tons of dirty talk and yea.. sex. Not many would experience how this book started but I could totally see this happening. So when Sarah takes of from Rhode Island to stay with a friend in Texas, she gets sent to the wrong ranch. When arriving and no one is there, Sarah decides to make herself right at home. Being caught in the shower by Tony, said homeowner, she mistakes him for her friends brother. Hilarious scene. From there when things go downhill for Sarah to get to her friends ranch, which happens to be more than a day's drive away, she ends up staying on with Tony to get her needed experience for writing her romance book. Desperate to find her own way in life, Sarah agrees to Tony's stipulations about staying with him, which includes, doing as he says and there being no commitment. Both having deep rooted issues, Sarah works away at Tony, and unknowingly Tony helps Sarah with her issue. The end result, sweet. This is definitely an author I would continue to follow. Enjoy.

Review: Right There With You By R J Sable

right there with you cover

          Amy's Review
There are many different types of abuse. Physical, mental, emotional... just to name a few, and Jamie had them all. Whereas the overprotective brothers were endearing at times, during all the others they were just outright mean. When you look further into the family dynamics, their abusiveness is a product of a lack of parenting. Being left to raise 7 kids as a 18 year old is an overwhelming challenge, not to mention raising one girl surrounded by brothers, not many would be able to do it. When Jamie finally gets out from under her brothers and goes to college, doors open and freedom looks great. When she meets Jason, who by the way is just adorable at times, he seems like her knight in shining armor. Too bad he has to literally go through 6 men to be with her. I really liked the story, my lower rating was due to the length, which reading a character's day to day is hard and can make it dull. For me it just took too long to get to the finale. There are many instances of abuse but also romance. This is one of those books that is not for everyone, especially if you cannot separate your feelings and see it for what it is... a fiction story.

Review: Reservation By Rachael Wade

Reservation (Preservation, #2)

I was so scared when I first started reading this. I really wanted Kate and Ryan to work. I absolutely hate reading about cheating, and that was my biggest fear, him totally cheating on her. Sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails just waiting for him to mess it up, and to my surprise...well you just have to read to find out. I loved this being from Ryan's POV. I liked seeing him with the more sensitive side and truly committed to their relationship. I have to say with all the temptations thrown at him, his reactions blew me away. With all that being said and not giving too much away, this book was awesome. So well written, the drama, romance, and suspense was fantastic. Declaration is sitting here calling my name. Great Job Rachael!

Review: A Beautiful Mess By T.K. Leigh

COVER
Amy's Review

What an intensely emotional and gripping story. Who would have guessed by looking at the cover. I knew very little before starting this book and became immediately hooked in the first chapter. I love romantic suspense stories especially ones that become so addicting you can't stop. I wasn't prepared for the extreme emotion aspect which really pulls at your heart strings. I also wasn't prepared for the ending. No HEA or HFN here people. This is 100% true drama. I like Alexander, although he is dense, and I think having all that money has dulled his ability to put others before him, but I haven't given up on him just yet, although by the sneak peek at the next book, he's on my shit list. Olivia, God bless her, is kept clueless throughout this book and its awful to read it. Give the girl some closure or something. She wants to get rid of her emotional baggage but everyone around her just keeps her in the dark which is frustrating. This would have been a 5 star for me, but I was not happy with no real questions or solutions being answered. I get in a series you can't end with everything being closed but at least something. I have hopes for book two that we will learn something about who and why people are after her. Fantastic exciting read...enjoy!

Review: Deja Vu By D.J. Starling

Deja Vu
Caryn's Review

I really have to applaud this author; the concept that drives this book is regression therapy, something that I have never heard of previous to this read. And any book that makes me want to willingly do research to learn more, well as I said previously, round of applause. To be honest, I am having trouble writing this review, purely on the basis that I am afraid of revealing anything juicy. My main suggestion to the reader would be to pay attention to the details in this book. The book does a wonderful job of painting images into your mind’s eye, but only if you are keen on them. The book is written in a timeline sequence, so pay attention to the dates, which I definitely missed for the first couple of chapters. This book is also a bit of a tearjerker, so be ready with tissues too! Again, without trying too vague, this book is a beautiful love story, in a way that I have never encountered before, and that fact alone makes it well worth the read. Sorry for the vagueness, just read the book, trust me.

Review: The Samantha Project By Stephanie Karpinske

Caryn's Review

Action-packed and captivating are the two words that I can ascribe to The Samantha Project.  What an amazing thrill ride the author takes the reader on, and in such illustrious detail!  I have to say this was an easy to follow read, which was surprising considering how many significant events take place within the books pages.  Samantha ‘Sam” Andrews is a seemingly normal seventeen-year-old girl.  Bright, pretty, dating the quarterback of the high school football team, great parents that she gets along with, Sam’s life is what her friends call perfect.  And for any high school girl to agree with that statement would be surprising to say the least, but Sam is more than content with the life she leads.  Sam’s life is then turned upside down the night that both her parents die in a tragic car accident, which to Sam, does not quite seem so accidental.  Sam learns for that she is not your typical high school girl and this book takes you through her transformation into something much more.  Sam’s abilities are awakened after she is kidnapped and experimented on, and from then on she fights to free herself from the people that did this to her.  I could barely put this book down once I started reading it.  I am so very thankful that there are more books in this series, because if there were not, I would be writing Stephanie Karpinske personally, begging her to write more.  I love a book that gives so much attention to detail, without sounding too lofty, and this book does just that.  Not to mention, I always enjoy a book with a kick-butt female character and Sam delivers just that, both literally and figuratively.  This book also carries with it an element of honesty with it.  When things happen to Sam, her immediate reaction is not one of instantaneous response, she absorbs and contemplates, and unlike many action heroes, she allows herself time to think about how she is feeling.  I really found myself applauding her character for that fact, rather than wishing she would get a move on and kick some bad guy behind.  Utterly awesome book, I am picking up the second book, The Golden Couple, as soon as I finish this review!
