(Amy's Review)
FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Ok, since I have been reading this series like I am in the Olympics, fast and furious, I have decided to do something that I have never done before.  I am doing a review of 4 books in one!  Yes, crazy right?  Let me start by saying, I never thought I would enjoy these as much as I did.  I am so not a fan of series that switch from one character to the next in a book series.  I love reading about one character and following them.  Well, this has definitely changed my opinion.  Gena has created not just a wonderful world with her series but wrote about the most intriguing characters ever, and I'm only through with 4 books!  Crazy right?  Well, these Lords, are immortal warriors possessed by demons.  Not only are they scrumcious, but so complex that you want to know about each one.  I think the thing that hooked me the most is the mythology part.  I love mythology, Zeus, Cronus, The Titans, all of it, and this series is all about that but in modern day.  Each book is about a different warrior and their struggle with the demon inside and all the changes around them.  In each book a new female is introduced within the group, and a few times I wanted to bang my head against the wall wondering what is wrong with these women!  You'll see :)  Gena writes great character development and ends each book so you pick right up with the next.  Gena Showalter and Nalini Singh are my new heroes.  If you haven't been following them, then you've been missing out.  On to book 5 :)

Bloodstorm (Heart of A Vampire #1)

Bloodstorm (Heart of a Vampire, Book 1)
Bloodstorm
By: Amber Kallyn
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
5 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

When duty forces a shaman to stop a vampire from her revenge, love doesn’t just burn... it bites.

For two hundred years, Niki DeVeraux has been tracking the monster who murdered her family and made her a vampire. She finally catches up to him in a small Arizona town, only to face more than she bargained for. Amid an imperious vampire King, a shaky truce between the local clan and shifter pack, and a too-sexy sheriff who makes her remember she’s still a woman, Niki’s single-minded purpose is threatened for the first time since her turning.

Between his duties as Keeper of the peace for the Magic Council and heir to his tribe’s shamanistic magic, Sheriff Shane Spencer’s job is to protect humanity and stop the friction between the local Arcaine races before it turns into an all out blood war. To make matters worse, there’s an irresistible rouge vampire in town enflaming his senses.

When wolves start turning up dead, the tension between the paranormal races grows and suspicion falls on Niki. Shane knows she’s not to blame, and it has nothing to do with the primal urges she stirs within him. Working together, they must find a way to stop the hostilities from going over the edge. Trouble is, the desires raging between Niki and Shane might prove more dangerous than the surrounding threats.

This was one of my favorite adult vampire story.  I love the strong female characters, that no matter who or what don't turn into that weepy "oh save me" characters.  Niki is just that.  She is strong willed and no matter what is thrown at her she barrels through tough as nails.  Even when she meets Shane, who is destined to be more than just friends with her, she still keeps to her true self.  With that being said, if you like kick ass females, and magical males, then you will definately enjoy this.

Whisper

WhisperWhisper
Author: Heather Hildenbrand
YA Book
(Amy’s Review)

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.  Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.  Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…

This book blew me away.  I am a huge fan of Heather’s writing and this was I think her best ever.  I could re-read this 10 times over and still love it every time.  Heather does such a wonderful job describing the emotions that Whisper is going through to a point that you almost feel what she is feeling.  It rings so true to anyone who has had a tragic loss in their life.  She brings hope when you feel there is no hope left or reason to go on.  In Whisper’s story Heather brings light and hope for someone who is surrounded in darkness, giving them just what they need to survive.  In this case it’s a soul mate.  There are so many what if’s when it comes to “soul mates” and magic in Native American history, and after reading this it makes you want to believe.  I won’t give details about the story in my review because it would honestly take away from the emotions you should feel when you don’t know what is going to happen.  Kind of like a surprise.  Don’t read any detailed synopsis of this book.  Read it with a blank slate.  You will get so much more from it that way and it will leave you speechless.  I hope that…no I know that you will love this story.

Stolen Sun (The Juliana Lucio Series)

Stolen Sun: The Juliana Lucio Series
Stolen Sun (The Juliana Lucio Series)
Author: L.C. DeCarlo
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Dr. Juliana Lucio is violently attacked, and turned into a creature of the night, now she's fighting to protect her son from becoming the same.

Late one night following her shift in the emergency department, Dr. Juliana Lucio is violently attacked and left for dead. To her surprise she wakes up to find she has been turned into a creature of her dreams--a vampire. Now, two new master vampires are in town and want to use Juliana’s unusual abilities to further their own plans of destruction. Because of Juliana's refusal to join them, they set their sights on Juliana's teenage son, and they don't plan on leaving town until he has fangs of his own.

Juliana is then forced to turn to the woman who stole her life, and family, to get her help in protecting them. Can Juliana, her Sire, and her sire's sexy best friend stop the powerful master vampires before they take her son . . . or will none of them make it out alive?

I really enjoyed this starter book for The Juliana Lucio Series.  I enjoyed it so much I read it in one day.  This book is about Juliana who is a normal human mother and wife who gets turned into a vampire by Ana.  Ana is a old vampire who has never sired anyone before.  Along with trying to teach Juliana the ways of being a vampire, Ana has secrets of her own.  Juliana is desperate to try to keep her human family but realizes she can only do that from a distance.  While watching over her family in secret, she has unknowingly put them in danger, especially her 16 year old son Christian.   A very powerful vampire Nathanial and his companion Victoria want Juliana.  She has powers as a vampire that none other have.  Nathanial and Victoria have threatened to turn Christian or make him a slave unless Juliana joins them.  Juliana will need the help of Ana and William to keep her son safe.  This story will suck you in because it starts from the beginning.  You get to see the character begin and grow from her change.  This allows you as the reader to become engrossed wanting to see the character develop.  I can't wait to see how Juliana continues on her journey.

Hot Secrets

Hot Secrets (Tall, Dark & Deadly #1)
Hot Secrets (Tall, Dark & Deadly #1)
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Tall, dark, and deadly, these three brothers run Walker security. Each brother is unique in his methods and skills, but all share key similarities. They are passionate about those they love, relentless when fighting for a cause they believe in, and all believe that no case is too hard, no danger too dark. Dedication is what they deliver, results are their reward.
Royce Walker, a former FBI Agent, who’s opened a private security firm with his brothers, has always had the hots for the prim, proper Assistant District Attorney, but considered her hand’s off because of a family connection. However, when danger threatens Lauren, he isn’t willing to stand by and watch her get hurt. Now the passion for survival is only rivaled by the passion burning between them. And that passion, might just be the death of them both.

This is my second non-paranormal read and I have to say I have been blessed to find such great stories.   This one is about Royce and Lauren.  Royce runs a security company and Lauren is an Assistant DA.  Lauren just got a high profile case which includes putting a battered woman up for the death penalty.  Lauren has been getting anonymous threats, so her father has requested the help of Royce to protect her.  Lauren has no idea that her father, who happens to be a US Senator, has been getting threats as well and that he has asked Royce to look out for her.  When Lauren meets Royce at her father’s birthday party, sparks fly.  Royce must work with his brothers to find out who is threatening Lauren, and keep Lauren from finding out that he was hired by her father.   Ok, so what’s not to like about this story?  Nothing.  It has all the elements that keep readers intrigued.  Action, romance, suspense, mystery and that surprise right at the very end.  Lisa has a way of writing that makes you want to jump into the story and actually become a part of it.  I am eager to continue with the series with book 2, “Dangerous Secrets”.

Synopsis

His powers -- Inhuman...
His passion -- Beyond immortal . . .
All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member -- a man trapped in a hell of his own.  Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments . . . and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction -- and a soul-shattering test of love . . .

I absolutely loved this book.  I am a fan of mythology, and the Greek Myths.  This book just hit the spot.  This book is about Ashlyn and Maddox. Maddox who is possessed by a demon of violence, and dies every night at midnight to be tortured in hell for killing the female warrior Pandora.  So Ashlyn goes looking for these men who are rumored to be Angels because they do so many great thing for the towns people but what they don't know is that these men are no Angels, they are ancient warriors who are possessed by demons.  Ashlyn has a gift, she hears voices, conversations that took place in the exact spot she is standing in, with no limit of time passed.  She believes these men might be able to help her control or rid her of her gift.  She is a parapsychologist and is no stranger to the supernatural.  What she didn't expect is to find her savior in the form of Maddox.  He is the key to controlling her ability.  A romance blossoms between them but being thousands of years old, Maddox is hesitant and thinks Ashlyn might be helping the Hunters who are intent on destroying him and his fellow warriors.  Ashlyn finds out that the company she works for is not what they seem and she has been used by them for years.  Book 2 is The Darkest Kiss, it is definitely my next book.

Divergent

Divergent
Author: Veronica Roth
Young Adult
Annette's Review
Rating: 4 out of 5

Synopsis:
In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

I don’t know what it is about dystopian books, but I love them!  There are so many out now, but I just don’t get sick of them.  I recently read Divergent by Veronica Roth, and it didn’t disappoint!  It seems to me that more and more, authors are portraying very strong lead female characters, which I like.  In Divergent, Beatrice and her family are part of the Abnegation (selfless) faction.  When the young adults of the community turn 16, they have to choose which faction they will join—Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), Erudite (the intelligent) and Abnegation.  They must take an aptitude test which tells them the virtue they are most strong in.  When Beatrice takes her test, it is inconclusive this is when she first hears the term divergent—meaning she has an aptitude in multiple virtues.  She is warned to not let on that she is divergent as this is seen as a threat to the society.  When it comes time for Beatrice to choose the faction she wants to become a part of, she chooses Dauntless.  By doing so, she must leave her family behind.  She changes her name to Tris and takes on the many challenges that Dauntless throws her way.  Tris puts forth whatever effort is needed to succeed in Dauntless as there are only so many candidates who will be accepted, and she must also hide the fact that she is Divergent as it can mean her death.  There is a romance in the story, but what I like about Tris and Four’s romance is that there is no love triangle involved, and Tris does not let their relationship define who she is or the choices she makes.  Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading. Divergent has a great storyline, and there were some intriguing twists to the story.  I can’t wait to read the next book!

Dayhunter (Dark Days #2)

Dayhunter (Dark Days, #2)

Dayhunter (Dark Days #2)
Author: Jocelynn Drake
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
Rating 2 out of 5

Synopsis

A new day dawns blood red

Now she and her unlikely ally--the human vampire hunter, Danaus--have come to Venice, home of the nightwalker rulers. But there is no safety in the ancient city, for the threat of conflict is in the wind . . . with unholy alliances and earth-shattering betrayals taking hideous form in the shadows.
Banished for eons beyond the world's boundaries, the malevolent "naturi" prepare to feed once again upon a vulnerable earth--and treachery is opening wide the portal that will enable their dread re-emergence. The great battle that has always been Mira's destiny is looming, and she must remain powerful in the face of a shocking revelation: that Danaus, the only creature she dares to trust, is something more than the man he claims to be . . .

This is the second book of the series and I don't know, it just wasn't that great for me.  I am not that blogger that goes and bashes the author and the book, but I just didn't like this follow up story.  There was a lot of development with the characters, and you find out more about Danaus.  I would recommend readers who have started this series to continue reading, there is more to this story and I do want to follow till the end.

Shade's Loss

Shade's Loss

Shade's Loss
Author: Christina Worrell
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Shade is not your typical teenage girl. Both of her parents are long dead and now all she has is her brother until a nightmarish creature from hell rips him away leaving her in the hands of a cold, old world, vampire assassin. His job as a Tracker is to hunt down rogue and feral immortals and end their existence. Now a teenage, elfin beauty has suddenly tumbled into his sadistically simple life. As he comes ever closer to a thousand years of age he begins to find his self at war with the overlords who fear his unnatural abilities. Fallen and on the run he finds that he must gain a broken girls trust and love before an inevitable war erupts that might just end his immortal life. Can Shade overcome her fears and accept the dark fallen hero?

This was such a great read.  I got this book on Amazon when it was listed as a free read and I am so glad I got it.  It starts off with Shade and her brother Mikhail, this beginning shows such a great bond between brother and sister and it sets up the story beautifully for later on.  Right in the beginning the action begins.  Mikhail is attacked and Shade meets her destiny, Damon.  Christina gives such great detail in explaining the scenes and the characters that you can envision it perfectly when reading.  She also writes so that you instantly bond and connect with the characters in such a way that you cannot help but feel emotions for them.  I love that about a story.  This has action, mystery, and romance but just enough of each that it makes it so enjoyable.  I listed it as an Adult Book only because when I try to judge, I think ok, would I let my 16 year old daughter read it.  This one was on the line, although the romance descriptions were tame and there was more make out scenes, I would still have to wait a year before I would let my daughter read it.  (This is just my personal opinion as a parent :)  To each their own.)  I hope there will be another book since I am extremely excited to read more.

The Summoning (Darkest Powers Trilogy #1)

The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1)
Guest Reviewer Natalie

The Summoning (Darkest Powers Trilogy #1)
Author: Kelley Armstrong
YA Book
(Natalie's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens.
At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?

The Summoning was a very good book.  It jumps right into action and mystery.  Chloe has lived a semi-normal life moving from place to place ever since her mother died with her barely there dad.  Things begin to change when she sees a boy jump in front of a cab, finally enters woman hood and get chased by a ghost janitor all in one day.  She gets sent to a group home because of her "hallucinations", The Lyle House.  Strange things start happening there, and Chloe trusts no one except for her 3 friends Rae, Simon and Derek.  With her friends, they try to plan an escape before something very bad happens.  This book had me hooked from the first page.  It has a perfect mix of mystery, drama and action.

Strange Angels

Guest Reviewer Natalie!
Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1)

Strange Angels #1
Author: Lili St. Crow
YA Book
(Natalie's Review)
3 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

In Strange Angels, Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)
Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?

Strange Angels was a little slow for me in the beginning.  It starts off explaining what her life was like living with her dad moving from place to place killing all creatures.  When one night Dru's dad does not come home human, he has been been turned into a zombie. Dru is forced to kill her father and moves on alone until her friend Graves starts helping her.  Graves gets bit by a werewulf and Dru now has to explain about her abilities and how she hunts.  While looking for answers about her parents, Dru meets Christophe.  Christophe is a dhampire, and he knows all the secrets Dru has been searching for about her parents and her not so human blood.  Dru is portrayed as a very strong 16 year old character having to face so many obstacles alone.  This makes her an inspiring character, not to mention also kick ass!  She knows how to fight and protect herself and others that she cares about.  This shows girls are not weak and helpless. I love how Dru and Graves relationship has grown into something more than friendship, even though I like Christophe's character, he's mysterious and is very interested in Dru.

Darkness Comes This Way

Darkness Comes This Way (The Guardians of the Night #1)

Darkness Comes This Way (The Guardians of the Night #1)
Author: Pixie Lynn Whitfield
YA Book
(Amy's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Zarah Duncan is a Guardian. It’s an elite job that protects humans and the untainted vampires from the real monsters: those lost to the bloodlust. Rogues infest the city. Missing humans, unsolved cases…Zarah knows what the real cause is and she’s been trained since childhood to destroy them.  But she has a haunting past that catches up one day. Zarah was Rogue once, and until her, no one else has ever cured from the poisoned state of mind before. She’s been labeled a miracle, and the mystery only builds. She gets the awful feeling there’s more to it than just a lucky magical come-back. There are deep, dark secrets being kept. Maybe her boss Nathanial knows something? When she gets paired with a partner, Draven Kinsley, it only adds more difficulty. He hates her and swears that with a single look, she’ll poison him. To make matters worse, her Rogue brother has to show up, and he brings with him a shocking announcement. What Zarah learns from him rocks her entire world upside down. She not only begins to question who and what she is anymore, but it can possibly change the Vampire race forever.
The scary part: someone else knows too…and they’ll do anything to get her special blood, spelling disaster for the humans that Guardians have secretly been protecting for decades.

I really liked this story.  It grabs you right from the beginning with a tough kick ass character.  Zarah is different than most vampires, she was able to be cured from being Rogue.  She now spends her days finding other rogue vampires and killing them.  When she has been forced to team up with another Guardian vampire, Draven, everything changes.  While on a hunt, Zarah and Draven are ambushed by Rogues, not just any rogue but her brother Thomas.  Thomas will help Zarah and Draven fight the Rogues, who are now after Zarah for her unique blood.  Although this is a YA read, there were times that Zarah and Draven had such fire between the two that you just wished it was an adult book.  There is such action in this book that you keep turning the page wanting to see what happens next.  Some books with this much going on makes you feel overwhelmed but Pixie makes it work so you're not.  She has created a unique world with different types of vampires that is easily believable and realistic in a paranormal fashion.  I look forward to the next book.

No Remorse

No Remorse

No Remorse
Author: Mary Lynn Bast
Adult Book
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Due to her unusual birth, Amber has abilities no other werewolf has ever possessed. On the run since childhood, the lone wolf avoids contact with other werewolves at all cost, continually moving, constantly looking over her shoulder and always alone.
Everything changes when Amber saves a werewolf from the mere brink of death, Blake, the only werewolf to ever protect her. Love blossoms, but not without tribulations when Amber realizes she must help her new pack rescue a member who is being held hostage by a rival pack.
Warring with emotions of going from lone wolf to the pack leader’s mate, Amber must decide if she is willing to risk Blake’s life to know true family and friendship despite the fact that the Council is hell bent on locating her and will stop at nothing until she is found. Will Amber’s special abilities be enough to keep everyone safe?

I got this book free on Amazon when I was browsing one day.  I am so glad I found it.  The beginning of the story was a bit slow for me only because it was bits and pieces of Amber's back story mixed in with where she was currently.  I kept asking myself "ok, where is this going", but when Amber found Blake the story got good.  Amber is special, she can do things that other werewolves can't, so her mother is hiding her.  She knows very little about her kind, which proves dangerous for her when she is on her own. While running through the woods in her wolf form she finds a car wreck, inside is Blake, someone she knew from long ago.  Finding Blake was the best thing to happen to Amber.  Blake is her life mate, Amber needs him more than she knows. Blake will help her learn the ways of being a werewolf and help her unlock some mysteries of her abilities.  I loved Amber and Blake, plus Adam and Marcello... Amber is so determined in this story to stay alone to keep everyone safe that she sacrifices her own happiness.  Blake, no matter what Amber says about keeping her independence, Blake will follow her anywhere.  This story has all the elements to pull you in, adventure, mystery, fighting, romance and those awe moments.

Mine to Possess (PsyChangeling #4)

Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4)

Mine to Possess (PsyChangeling #4)
Author: Nalini Singh
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
4 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

Clay Bennett is a powerful DarkRiver sentinel, but he grew up in the slums with his human mother, never knowing his changeling father. As a young boy without the bonds of Pack, he tried to stifle his animal nature. He failed...and committed the most extreme act of violence, killing a man and losing his best friend, Talin, in the bloody aftermath. Everything good in him died the day he was told that she, too, was dead.  Talin McKade barely survived a childhood drenched in bloodshed and terror. Now a new nightmare is stalking her life--the street children she works to protect are disappearing and turning up dead. Determined to keep them safe, she unlocks the darkest secret in her heart and returns to ask the help of the strongest man she knows... Clay lost Talin once. He will not let her go again, his hunger to possess her, a clawing need born of the leopard within. As they race to save the innocent, Clay and Talin must face the violent truths of their past...or lose everything that ever mattered.

Another great PsyChangeling story by Nalini Singh.  Talin, former love interest of Clay, seeks his help with finding missing street children she works with.  The only thing is that Clay thinks Talin's dead.  When Clay sees her, game on.  Clay decides no matter what has happened, Talin will never leave him again.  I loved Clay's character but Talin's I'm still on the fence for.  She was very flighty but it's understandable considering her background.  While Talin is working with Clay, she has to fight her feelings and keep her secrets so she can leave him again when it's over.  What she doesn't know is that Clay has already decided she is his mate, and he will never seek another.  This story spends more time on the history of Talin and Clay instead of the missing kids which works.  I like gettting to know my characters and creating a bond for future stories.  I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

Heart of the Wolf

Heart of the Wolf (Heart of the Wolf, #1)

Heart of the Wolf
Author: Terry Spear
Adult Book
(Amy's Review)
3 out of 5 Rating

Synopsis

Their forbidden love may get them both killed.
Bella is a red werewolf, sole survivor of the fire that killed her entire pack.
Devlyn is a beta male werewolf in a pack of grays.
Forced to flee her adopted gray pack when the alpha male becomes a vicious threat, she struggles to live as a lone wolf, until Devlyn, the gray male who rescued her as a pup, comes to bring her home.
When a local red werewolf goes on a killing spree, Bella and Devlyn must flee the murderer, the police and their vengeful pack leader. With the full moon rising, and her heat upon her, Bella can't resist the pull to her destined mate, even if means Devlyn will have to face the wicked alpha male in a fight to the death...

This story is about Bella, a red wolf who was rescued and adopted into another wolf pack.  The story starts when Bella is a older character giving some background information in bits and pieces throughout the book.  Bella runs away from the wolf pack that has raised her because of Volan, the current alpha wants her as a mate.  Bella has loved Devlyn since they were younger but won't let him fight the alpha for her.  When Bella gets captured and put in a zoo, Devlyn is sent to rescue her.  He realizes when he finds her that he wants her as a mate and will fight Volan for her.  In the mist of the love triangle, Bella has captured the attention of a red wolf pack in her town.  Three of the wolves, including the current alpha of the red pack now want Bella as well.  A red wolf in the town has been killing women in hopes to turn them for a mate, and now has captured the attention of the town and the police.  Bella and Devlyn work to find who the killers are and stop them before the wolves are discovered by humans.  I like the characters and the natural instincts that were created in this book.  I just didn't find the story all that appealing to me.  I think if the story started about Bella being rescued and growing up in the pack, I might have enjoyed the story more.  I just found that as I read I really didn't get to know Bella, Devlyn or Volan all that well from this story.
