The Tragedy of Knowledge (The Resistance Trilogy #3)
Author: Rachael Wade
4 out of 5 Stars
Coming October 25, 2012!
The Battle Comes Home.
After arranging a hopeful but risky alliance during their visit to the Amaranthian realm, Camille, Gavin, and the resistance don’t have much time to recover from their failed mission. Forced to create a new strategy to achieve their goal, they embark on a different mission—one that possibly holds the missing key to their quest for victory, and their deadliest one yet.
As they attempt round two to restore peace and freedom for their kind, they must rely on help from the living, the bayous, and beyond to decipher allies from enemies, good magic from bad, and whether the source claiming to lead the way to their destiny can be trusted. Racing against the clock to solve the mystery of their fate, they find the battle has come right to their doorstep, and this time, everyone must pay a price.
When I first read Amaranth in October 2011, I was so excited to read something so original. Rachael's trilogy is not just about your traditional vampires. Rachael's are magical and spiritual, having deep backgrounds. So when I read The Tragedy of Knowledge I was sad, because I knew it was ending. This book showed us Gavin and Camille's true relationship. I was so happy to see them finally together in The Gates, and they certainly didn't disappoint this round. The whole time I was reading I kept saying "where's Scarlet, I know she's gonna pop out sometime that crazy b&*!@." Yup, she showed up but I won't spoil it for you. Obviously there is a final battle coming with Gerard, Samira and some unexpected characters as well. I really didn't see the ending coming. Rachael has a way with leading you up to a certain point with just enough information where her story could go either way. I like that about her, she keeps me guessing. So here is the end of The Resistance Trilogy but I know that Rachael won't leave us for long, she has some more great stories coming. Enjoy :)

Blood Bond is the 3rd book of Heather Hildenbrand's Dirty Blood Series. Heather has graced me with an awesome opportunity to be apart of her blog tour for Blood Bond. Let me just say, this was a blast for me and I hope she allows me to participate in her following tours. With that being said, I hope you enjoy my interview and if you would like to read my review for Blood Bond, follow the link below..
Check out what happens to me when Heather sends me to Frederick Falls, VA to interview Tara and Alex...
Today I am driving to Frederick Falls Virginia to interview Alex and Tara. Being from Northern Virginia myself, Heather said it would only be a day trip there, giving me plenty of time to get out before it gets dark. I made it down here without getting lost, even with Heathers sense of humor with directions, “halfway between DC and Richmond, take 1-95 straight down. There's only one exit, though. Sort of like, if you blink, you'll miss it, so keep an eye out. ;)” . Jack and Fee were kind enough to open their home to me for my interview. Actually they kind of insisted, something about rogue Hybrids and ensuring my safety while I’m there. Jack also arranged for me to pick up Derek at Fred’s Place in downtown Frederick Falls. Derek is definitely not much of a passenger, he somehow convinced me to let him drive. Maybe Jack felt I needed protection or a babysitter to get to his house. Maybe it’s not as safe out here as Heather said it would be, what was she thinking sending me here? As we pull up to the house, I see Alex and Tara are already outside waiting for me, and to my surprise, Wes too. Derek and I get out of the car and head towards the house. Derek nods at Wes and takes off through the woods. Operation escort Amy officially over. All three turn their heads towards me as I approach, Alex, the only one smiling, mischievous thing he is. This is going to be fun, I think.
“Hi guys, I’m Amy. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview.”
All three nod and we begin our way to the 4 chairs set up under the trees. Not too welcoming but I guess it will do. Confused, I turn towards the three of them.
“Um, I’m sorry Wes, I thought Heather told you, the interview is just with Alex and Tara.”
A low growling comes from Wes. Wes scowling at Alex, “Whatever, I’ve got better things to do than play Truth or Dare anyway.” Alex smirks at me and winks.
Not leaving far from Tara, Wes stands by the porch with a deep scowl and crosses his arms.
Alex grabs the extra chair and takes it over to Wes, “Here ya go pup”. *Wes growls, kicks chair over*
Alex returns, slaps hands together with a giant smile “Ok ladies, let’s begin”. Tara shaking her head mumbles “Idiot.”
“Well, thanks for having me and taking the time to meet with me. I really think readers need to know a bit more about the two of you since the pot has definitely been stirred with you coming into the picture, Alex.” *Alex smirks*
“First Question is for the both of you, what were your first impressions of each other?”
Alex: I thought she was a snotty b--”
Tara: “Alex!” *glares until he shuts up* “I thought he was mean. Guess I wasn’t wrong.”
(Wes *snickers* behind me)
“Okay then, question two *looking at Tara* you’ve had some major life altering events happen to you recently. Having learned you are a hybrid, everyone wanting to kill you, meeting Wes and Alex, finding out you’re the key to bringing peace between both species. If you could go back and have a normal life, not having met Wes or Alex or be a hybrid, would you do it?
Hmm… good question. As much as I want to say yes, I can’t. Without all of this happening, I might’ve never discovered the truth from my mom and grandma about my family and the past, about my dad. Truth is priceless. So, no, I wouldn’t go back.
“Third question for Alex”, *slowly looks up at me with those seductive eyes with a smile to stop your heart, whoa get a grip Amy, shaking my head* “You alright there Amy?” “Yes, just fine Alex, question three.” “You’ve already said that, twice now actually.” *Alex leans forward*
“Alex, you have such a tragic past involving werewolves, and you showed a lot of resentment when you first started mentoring Tara. What was there about Tara or what happened for you to change your mind about werewolves?
Tara: It was me. *says smugly*
Alex: *Alex leans back in his chair and rolls eyes* It was a lot of things. Miles was one. I realized not everyone was good just because they were a Hunter. Once I saw that, I had to admit that maybe not every Werewolf was bad, either. I’m still working on it, though.
“Back to you Tara, coming to Wood Point put a major rift in your relationship with Wes. Was going to Wood Point worth it, even with defeating Miles and becoming a stronger hunter?”
Definitely. As much as I hate all the stuff Wes and I went through while I was at school, it strengthened our relationship. And some of it would have happened even if I’d stayed home. Plus, I’ve met some people here that mean a lot to me. Cambria… Logan … *glances at Alex* Lots of people.
(Wes *expression darkens* *crosses arms and mumbles to himself*)
“Ok Alex, next question for you. Tell us something about yourself? Favorite music, food, movie?”
Favorite food … I try to eat healthy most of the time but I like good, homemade lasagna. Favorite music? Depends on the mood. When I’m working out or lifting I like something hard with heavy guitar sounds. When I run, something mellow and chill. It relaxes me. I don’t really watch many movies, it’s hard to with my schedule but I like Braveheart.
Tara: of course you do *shakes head*
“Last question, Alex when you look at Tara, what is the one word that comes to mind? Tara, same question?”
Stubborn. Stubborn. * said in unison.*
(Wes *eye roll* *walks away mumbling* “what kind of interview is this, more like an episode of the newlywed game”)
“Well thank you for answering my questions, It was *turning my head towards Wes* interesting. “
*Tara jumps up, shaking my hand* “It was nice meeting you Amy and thanks for coming. Alex, walk Amy to her car please.” Both Alex and I watch as Tara runs over to Wes. Yes! Yes! Don’t make a fool of yourself Amy, alone time with Alex. Slowly we walk towards my car, “It was great meeting you Alex.” *whole time Alex is staring at Tara and Wes* “ah-hem” *clearing my throat* “Something the matter Alex?”
Turning towards me with a confused look, “Where you just saying something?” *sigh* *crash and burn* *heart breaks* “No Alex.” A girl can only dream.

In the future, things are anything but ordinary...
In 2022, the United States commissioned a group of scientists to experiment with genetic mutations. Their goal was to create a serum that would alter the human genetic code, making the subject stronger and faster. They succeeded but their victory was short lived. Not only had they created a super serum, but also an airborne virus. By 2025, seventy-five percent of the world's population had perished. The survivors, well their lives would never be the same.
Ally is an Ordinary; a human immune to the virus. She lives in a settlement outside the City with her mother and twin brother, but lately it doesn't seem to be enough. She is wrestling between being with her family and volunteering to move to the City, where she can work for the Exceptionals.
Luke is an Exceptional; a superior human being. His ancestors were infected with the virus and lived through it, leaving their super human strength and special abilities to him. He has never given much thought to Ordinarys, despite pressure from his father to choose one from the ORC. But all of that changes when he meets Ally...
Exceptional was a book I found that really got me excited. I have found to enjoy the dystopian paranormal/fantasy stories. Exceptional takes place in the future after a virus has either wiped out most humans or turned them into super humans. The story plot was a great idea and this book is very good for the YA readers. Although I did enjoy this book, I wished it would have been written for an older reading group. I think with that you could focus on less of the young romance and more of the horrors of the society and way of life for not only the Exceptionals but the Ordinaries, from an adult perspective. I would definitely recommend this book and I will continue to follow the series. I hope you enjoy!

Feral Sins: The Phoenix Pack
Author: Suzanne Wright
Steamy Adult Book
If your inner wolf and your body react rather enthusiastically to a psychotic Alpha male who’s own wolf has a tendency to turn feral, it can’t be a good thing, can it? Entering into a bargain with him wouldn’t be good either. Unfortunately, Taryn Warner, a latent wolf shifter, doesn’t have many options open to her right now. Okay, she has no options. Basically it comes down to whether she’ll do what it takes to escape the arranged mating with the sick SOB that her father set up. As the answer in this case is yes, it looks as though she’ll have to agree to Trey Coleman’s deal…she’ll have to mate with him instead. Having always disliked shifter politics, Trey Coleman hadn’t bothered trying to form alliances with other packs. Now that his uncle – a wolf with many alliances – means to take Trey’s territory and his pack, he has no option but to form some alliances of his own very quickly or he’ll be easily outnumbered in the upcoming battle. He figures that the easiest way to do that would be to mate with a female who’s Alpha is powerful and influential. There’s only one problem with that – he would then be stuck with her, and the last thing Trey wants is a mate. When he hears of Taryn’s situation, he offers her a deal – if she falsely claims he’s her true mate and allows him to claim her, he’ll save her from her arranged mating and then let her leave after the battle with his uncle is over. Sounds like a pretty straightforward deal...but soon Taryn and Trey realize they got more than they bargained for. Their mating instincts to protect and possess are weighing on them, they crave each other’s touch and company, and their inner wolves don’t like it whenever they’re apart. Add in that they’ll have to deal with this for an entire three months until the day of the battle finally arrives, and they’ve got themselves a recipe for disaster – or maybe for something quite the opposite.
This book came at me out of nowhere. I bought it when I was on my werewolf kick. This story was awesome. Taryn is a wolf shifter who can't actually shift forms. Her father is the Alpha of her pack and looks at her as a burden and disgrace to the family. He agrees to a mating for her to another wolf who is evil. Taryn meets Trey, well he just kidnapps her to work a type of arrangement. Trey wants to use Taryn to get her fathers pack behind him for an upcoming battle. From there it just gets interesting. I love Taryn's character, she is a strong female character that kicks ass. Then there is Trey, that guy is just crazy, but good crazy. The story in itself is just a really good one. It has differnt things happening all at once so you never know what is going to happen next. I really hope that there is a second book, soon.

Captured (The Captive #1)
Author: Erica Stevens
Older YA Book
4 out of 5 Stars
Captured, taken from her beloved family and woods, Aria’s biggest fear is not the imminent death facing her, but that she will be chosen as a blood slave for a member of the ruling vampire race. No matter what becomes of her though, Aria knows that she must keep her identity hidden from the monsters imprisoning her. She has already been branded a member of the rebellion, but the vampires do not know the true depth of her involvement with it, and they must never know. Though hoping for death, Aria’s world is turned upside down when a vampire named Braith steps forward to claim her. He delays her execution, but Aria knows it’s only a matter of time before he drains her, and destroys her. Especially once she learns his true identity as a prince within the royal family; the same royal family that started the war that ultimately brought down humankind, reducing them to nothing more than servants and slaves. Aria is determined to hate the prince, determined not to give into him in anyway, but his strange kindness, and surprising gentleness astonish her. Torn between her loyalties to the rebellion, and her growing love for her greatest enemy, Aria struggles to decide between everything she has ever known, and a love she never dreamed of finding.
What a great dystopian vampire story. I was a bit skeptical at first, wasn’t sure how this story was going to plan out but it’s very good. So good I read both books one and two in 2 days! The author has done a great job with creating a world where vampires have taken over everything, and humans are at their mercy. There is a large group of rebellions who want to over throw the vampires and live in caves, underground, or in the safety of the woods where they cannot be found. I liked that in this story the humans have forgotten what a shower is, or a toilet, those little things that we take for granted. Makes you think of how much we have and how much we can lose. There is so much anticipation in this book that it made it almost impossible to put down. There’s action, mystery and romance, all those things you need for a great story. The characters are interesting; all of them have their own uniqueness which pulls different emotions out of you. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy.
Cowgirls & Vampires #1
Author: Tim O'Rourke
4 out of 5 Stars
Samantha Carter believes that a vampire is responsible for the brutal deaths of four women in her hometown. Desperate to prove this, Samantha accepts the friendship of a Preacher, two Cowgirls, and a Cowboy. Together, they are hired by the mysterious Englishman, Spencer Drake, to travel by steam train into the mountains in search of gold. It’s on this journey that Samantha finds romance with a man who keeps a dark and terrifying secret and discovers that vampires are not only very real, but are far more dangerous than she ever imagined. In order to stay alive, Samantha needs to figure out why things have gone so terribly wrong for her. But more importantly, why is she out of time?
Gotta love Tim and his paranormal stories. They set themselves apart of the mainstream books about vampires and all things that go bump in the night. His ideas are like none other. That is why I will continue to follow him as an author. His latest book “Cowgirls and Vampires” is a great story involving action, adventure, romance and mystery. Not to mention the ending, TIM! How can you leave us like that? We’ll talk about that later. Back to the story. The description Tim gives about the Wild West is unbelievable. You would think he knows from experience all about how life was back then, and that makes this an even more enjoyable read. His descriptions really put you in the story, able to picture every rock, mountain, town perfectly in your mind, right down to what the characters are wearing. The story itself is enjoyable too because his creepy crawly characters are not what’s out in the mainstream today. His are a whole different breed just like in his Kiera Hudson series. Tim has given each of his characters a bit of mystery so you are always guessing who the bad guy is or what that person is really about. It completely makes it a page turner. I really hope Tim continues this as a series, especially after the ending. Shame on you for leaving us hanging like that *sad face*. I need to know what happened to Harry! Enjoy.

All Loni Stanfield was looking for was a good book to read. What she got was enough terror and danger to last a lifetime. Alec Page is a Dark Enforcer, one of the elite paranorms who patrol by night. Alec is a mimic with the rare ability to take on the powers of the last being he touches. He must use his ability to defeat the evil haunting the streets of Phoenix. Paranorms are turning up dead with no clues as to who or what is the cause. Drugs are also being distributed that give humans paranorm abilities, wreaking havoc in both paranorm and human realities. Dawson, a powerful sorcerer, may be behind everything, and Alec is out to stop the devastation before it goes too far. Loni finds herself in a paranorm reality that she read about in a novel and then she meets Alec, the hero of that very book. Soon she finds herself falling for him at the same time she's discovering magical powers of her own. Alec is drawn to Loni, no matter that she's human...and taboo. When Loni is kidnapped and in the sorcerer's clutches, Alec must save her as well as save a city on the verge of destruction.
I have to give this author credit for the absolute best story idea ever. When I first read the synopsis of Night's Captive, I immediately thought of The Neverending Story. If any of you haven't seen it, it’s about a boy who reads a book and becomes part of it. Well this story was much better because Loni, actually lived it. Who wouldn’t want to walk into a book story and have the owner fit you to a book that is just what you are looking for, not only in reading it but living it. Well, that’s what Loni got. Walks into a bookstore, takes a book home and the next day begins living apart of that story along with all the characters. How can you not love that?! Night's Captive has all the elements to it that keep you reading. Constant action and adventure, mystery, romance and characters that you can’t help but like. Kudos to the author for originality. Can’t wait for book 2. Enjoy!

Two nights after her eighteenth birthday, Lily is attacked while out jogging, but is saved by Tharin Lunar, a Sidhe prince. When she discovers that her attacker is her own brother, Lucas, who disappeared four years ago, Lily refuses to believe that her brother would truly hurt her and becomes determined to find Lucas and bring him home. Lily finds that Lucas’ disappearance is somehow tied to Tharin; so when he informs her that she is his betrothed and must return with him to Velesi, fulfill a treaty between their families and unite the two strongest clans through their marriage, Lily agrees. However, she’s not going to Velesi for a wedding, but to bring home her only family, Lucas.
On their journey to the borders of Velesi, the realm of the Thirteen Clans, they’re pursued by a Sidhe assassin group call the Ange, meet with an ogre crime lord that ends badly, deal with a sleazy troll motel manager, and when they discover that there’s a bounty on their heads, they must keep one step ahead of every assassin, bounty hunter and low-life criminal in Velesi. Protecting Lily has become the biggest challenge of Tharin’s life. Lucky for him he has help in the form of his twin brother, Tolan, Lily’s best friend Julia and his three bodyguard cousins.
This was such a cute story. Lily is a normal girl who one day finds out she is a Sidhe princess. Not only is she a princess but she is bethrothed to a Sidhe prince. On her 18th birthday, Lily is saved by Tharin and his brother from the evil Ange. These assassins are determined to kill Lily in hopes to bring war upon their Clans. It is the hope of the arranged marriage between Lily and Tharin that will bring the Clans together in peace. Lily, Tharin, Tolan and Julia set out to return to their home of Velesi for the marriage ceremony but run into trouble along the way. Lily will have to give up her old life for a new one for the sake a world she knows nothing about.
I loved the interactions between all the characters, and the fact that Lily drops everything to become a princess and save her "brother" and her friend Julia. The world that is created in this story is one to be imagined of by everyone. It has such peace and tranquility, and also pain and suffering from what we are doing to the earth. This is such a great read, one to be enjoyed by all.

Have you ever read a book that you were really excited about but just didn't hold up to the hype? That was this book for me. I really wanted it to be one of those knock your socks off books. My first attraction to this book that the synopsis gave me a Nalini Singh PsyChangeling feeling. I love that series and was hoping to find something that compares. While this story does hold scenarios and characters abilities like Nalini's, the character relations and development just left me with a bad taste. The plot of the story was exciting, and the ending was great, just some of the juicy bits in-between didn't do it for me. I will more that likely move on to book 2 only because I am still holding out for something in this series. If you do read this book please comment on your thoughts of the book, I am curious of others opinions. Happy Reading :)

The Light Tamer
Author: Devyn Dawson
Jessie moved from New York to North Carolina one week after school let out for summer break. Her newly single mother and Jessie move in with grandma Gayle. Being a teen in a retirement area, is one more thing to add to her 'this sucks' list. It's bad enough to have to move, but even worse her alcoholic father left them as he went on a quest to be an artist in Greece. Things begin to look up when she is reintroduced to Caleb, the dorky boy that saved her life one summer at the beach. Caleb is no longer scrawny and nerdy, he is now tall, dark and handsome. Caleb is a Light Tamer. Jessie and Amber become fast friends. Amber is a no frills girl, her snarky comments and sassy attitude will raise a few eyebrows and have you laughing out loud. Amber is rough around the edges, a light tamer with only two years left to find the one she is bound to. Her father's surfing accident left her dad paralyzed and her brother dead.
I am so happy I read this book. I've read Devyn's other books, The Legacy of Kilkenny series, and enjoyed them but I loved this one so much more. This book was so different than any book I've read. I loved the characters. They each add so much to the story and their personalities are so different that they compliment each other. Although this is a romantic story, there is so much more than the romance that you don't feel bombarded with the typical love triangles. The story flows so well that it almost seems real. I highly recommend that you read this book. It will not disappoint.

Advertising Exec, Clarity Parker thought she'd never see Baron Ford again. Five years ago, they shared the date of her life and then he literally vanished into thin air. Now he's back and has asked that she, exclusively, be assigned to his multi-million dollar account. On the day the fog rolls in, not only can she no longer avoid him but she can no longer avoid herself. See, Clarity has an ability that she's run away from her entire life. She's learning an ability like hers doesn't come for free, and something or someone is trying to make her pay for it with her life. Her world is soon turned upside down after she escapes to a place called Enu. It's here Clarity learns who and what she truly is. She also learns that Baron Ford is Baron Ze Feldis; he's a vampire, and what bonds them runs deeper than anything she can ever imagine. Their bond is further tested when they end up not only battling Baron's psycho ex-vampire girlfriend, who wants Clarity dead but also "the evil" as they journey in search of the book which holds the Prophecy of the Seven Seeds. One thing's for sure, from this point on, their lives will never be the same.
This is the first book in the Parched Series. Clarity Parker has a great job and wants for nothing. That is until she meets Baron Ford. All through this book Clarity has to be patient to find out what is so special about her while everyone else seems to already know. She has to put her trust not only in Baron Ford but her Guardian, Viesel Egos. This is not your regular vampire story. This has twists and turns and gives you a new perspective about God and Adam and Eve. This book does not overwhelm you with the religious background but gives you just enough to understand how everything began. This is a good book and I will continue to follow the series.

Older YA Book
Charity Bell is eighteen, beautiful, and has an unyielding chip on her shoulder. The loss of her father and betrayal of her stepfather have left her angry and confident that no man will ever win her trust, or possess her heart. She wears that declaration proudly--on her countenance, as well as her sharp tongue. That's all tested when the enchanting Levi Drake transfers from her rival school across town. In a town divided by intense rivalry this should mean trouble, and yet the school is quickly won over by his alluring charm. When a strange encounter with the mysterious young man leaves Charity bewildered, she's convinced he's hiding something and sets out on a dangerous plot to discover his secret. What she uncovers, however, will leave her both grasping for reality and hanging onto the tattered shreds of what's left of her declaration. As she faces the demons of her past, and present, she must decide if she can live, or die, with his.
Charity is a average high school girl who one day meets the mysterious new guy from a rival school. This boy not only gets her attention but sets her hormones on fire. Levi is everything Charity is not looking for but for some reason feels an instant pull towards him. When Charity is given a dare to kiss Levi, the sparks fly and Charity can no longer ignore her feelings for him. Charity soon finds that she can no longer go on without Levi in her life but she will have to make great sacrifices to be with him. Ones that might break her heart. For one this story has the cute high school girls meets wild high school boy and they fall in love. Charity is that girl that we all want to be in high school, safe and secure in her own identity and doesn't care what her peers think. I completely enjoyed this book. It seemed a bit rushed at the end but I'm glad to have met Raven. Everything in the story flows great, the character developments and relationships. Charity begins to change towards the end. She's more emotional because of her new feelings for Levi and becomes more insecure. I would continue to read the next book.
