Tour Review: The Howling Heart By April Bostic

The Howling Heart Review

I absolutely loved this book. The romance/suspense written in this story keeps you intrigued and on the edge of your seat. The characters each had a quality that made them hard not to like, even the villain, except the mother, that woman was a b#%^!  Since the wolves live in such a remote area away from larger populated areas, Riley seemed immature and whiney.  He is the complete opposite of his sister Quinn, who seems to have a great head on her shoulders and more centered than Riley. Paige, although her reluctance to the who issue of being with Riley annoyed me to no end, had such a strong independence that she didn’t allow anyone to dictate her life, even the witch of a mother, yes I really don’t like that woman.

So pretty much this story is about a little girl, Paige, who meets a very cute wolf pup while on vacation in a cabin in Colorado. Little does she know that they wolf puppy is Riley, who will hold the torch for them both until she returns. After the death of her father, Paige returns to Colorado to visit the cabin. On the first day, she meets Riley. From there Paige will see that this small town in Colorado is nothing close to being normal. She will be thrust in the world of Varluv.  Nothing about being with Riley will be easy, with so many obstacles, sacrifices and deceit, Riley and Paige have their work cut out for them.  The only part of the story that was a shock for me was the ending. Not that it was bad, but I didn’t expect the end to go that way.  For all of my fellow werewolf/shape shifter book lovers, this is one you will enjoy.

Summary:

Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River. Soon she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 12th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack. Now she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.
