Inescapable (The Premonition #1)
Author: Amy A. Bartol
YA Book
Paranormal Romance
Synopsis
My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me--my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded...sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.
What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.
My Review
WARNING, some necessary spoilers!
I found this
little gem one day and become so completely enamored with the story that after
I finished the first, I read the next three in a week.Inescapable is centered on Evie, a half angel just starting
to develop her angel abilities her first year on a full scholarship. Evie’s journey through her freshman year is
one of self-discovery but she doesn’t have to do it alone. Along the way she makes two best friends, my
personal heroes, the hilarious and mischievous duo Buns and Brownie that enlist
Evie to play on their field hockey team.
They add humor and camaraderie to this story and have a secret of their
own! Evie also meets her soul mate but falls
for someone else, an angel that doesn’t know whether to kill her or protect
her, loathing and loving her at first sight.
This love triangle is nothing like the Twilight variety. There is so much history between souls that
can’t be denied that you have to wonder, why does Evie deny it? How can her pull, literally a butterfly like
tingly thread between her and her angel, be stronger than the centuries spent
with her soul mate? No matter what “team”
you root for; you can’t help but fall for all of the characters and will certainly
root for Evie. She is strong willed,
incredibly intelligent and intuitive, beautiful yet down to Earth, and has this
uncanny ability to make everyone around her fall in love with her...which is an
aptitude that can be seen as both good and bad…especially when the Fallen
angels make their debut.
This novel ends with a bang and is only the tip of the
iceberg. Each book adds more characters,
reveals more history and background, and they are all action packed, full of
nail biting twists that leave you wanting more.
Needless to say, I am counting down the days for the release of the
fifth book! Reviews of the 2nd
through 4th books to come…until then, I hope you consider reading
Inescapable.
Happy Reading!
